Peripheral Neuropathy

Along with vestibular and balance disorders, many of our patients have peripheral neuropathy. Peripheral neuropathy is a disorder of the sensory nerves that can cause serious balance deficits and be related to Diabetes, HIV, recent treatment involving radiation and/or chemo-therapy. If neuropathy affects the feet, then there is no input to the brain to indicate where the feet are. This often results in tripping, stumbles and falls. Traditionally, neuropathy was considered "untreatable". However, laser and light therapy has been proven to regenerate nerve endings affected by neuropathy and ultimately improve balance. Arroyo Physical Therapy uses lasers and light therapy to treat neuropathy and restore balance and mobility.
